Drolatic Industry (Work in progress)

When you step into The Bank -Redon’s former Banque de France-, you cannot but be immediately be-spelt by what you see! It’s a strange place, out of time, where the gates to Imagination are wide open ; A place which arouses your imagination and whose subtle alchemy makes you wonder and ponder.
Those walls, heritage of the past, now host “Drolatic Industry”, a group of artists who have been skillfully exploring for some years now the magic world of puppets, and felicitously sharing it with the public.
The artists cleverly play with colours, shapes, sounds and words; They lay the foundations of a magic world that takes any observer “elsewhere”.
Struck by a sort of contagious addiction, I rapidly felt there was a clear similitude between their realm and photography as I see it. Puppets and photography alike, in their own ways, represent the world and question the link between the animate and non animate, play with the appearances of reality. Both require the utmost attention, the utmost care for details, and a total fascination with the art of suggesting things.
This series of photographs was born from my first warmhearted encounter with the artists of “Drolatic Industry”, and I have a feeling it is undoubtedly the first of many about our parallel worlds!
